Reviewing Coursework in a New Way
Submitted by Mel Young on behalf of Ryan Carbone

What challenge, problem or motivation inspired you to make one small change?
Engaging students; students forgetting content from previous weeks
Tell us about your one small change:
Ryan wanted to find a way to engage students in his class and he noticed that students were sometimes forgetting content from previous weeks. He saw Mentimeter in action at a conference and wanted to try it in his class to promote engagement and retrieval practice of prior content. Ryan uses Mentimeter at the beginning of class to engage students in previous lesson content and activate their prior knowledge about the day’s topic. He continues to use Menitmeter throughout his lesson to further engage students in the day’s lesson. At the end of class, he uses Mentimeter to perform a quick diagnostic of what the students learned and what he may need to reinforce in the next class(es).
What was the result of your one small change?
Students are more engaged and performing better on tests/exams.
